Doubtful Sound fly cruise fly

This is an all day trip involving a diverse range of transportation enabling visitors to experience Fiordland and Doubtful Sound from all different perspectives, from the air, the ground and on the water. Doubtful Sound is the deepest and second largest of all the sounds in Fiordland, it is a massive wilderness area of rugged peaks, rainforest and twisting  hidden inlets all deep in the heart of the Fiordland National Park.

The day begins with the flight from Queenstown to land at the airfield at Manapouri where you will board the boat to take you across Lake Manapouri "the lake of many islands" to view the underground power station at the head of the West Arm. The construction of this power station was one of New Zealands greatest engineering achievements.

You will travel by coach down a 2 kilometre spiral tunnel to view the immense underground machine hall and learn the story behind this power station. From there you will travel by coach across the sub- alpine road to the Wilmot Pass, pausing along the way to experience the dense Fiordland rainforest and view Doubtful Sound glistening far below and stretching out into the distance.

At Deep Cove you will board the spacious cruise boat that will take you on a three hour cruise through Doubtful Sound and some of Fiordlands most stunning scenery.

After crossing back across Lake Manapouri your pilot will meet you for the return flight back to Queenstown. 

Lunch options are available on the cruise but must be pre booked.

Departure time is 8am Queenstown Airport returning at 6pm.
