Mount Aspiring & Glacier Overflight
This spectacular local scenic flight offers visitors to Queenstown a wonderful alternative flying experience on days when weather prevents flights to Milford Sound.
Flying north out of Queenstown over the Skippers Canyon the flight heads directly to the ten thousand foot Mount aspiring, known to maori as “Tititea” or glistening peak. All seats aboard our aircraft are window seats.
We are the commercial arm of the Wakatipu Aero club, consequently you can relax in the reassuring knowledge that all our pilots have undergone rigorous training with the Aero club throughout the local mountains and being familiar with the area can provide an interesting and informative commentary as you circumnavigate the peak and look down on magnificent views over ancient glaciers and icefalls. Flying over the white expanse of the Bonar, Volta, Thurma, Rob Roy, Avalanche and Kitchener glaciers it’s apparent that the primal beauty of an untouched glacier is one of natures true wonders. Heading back to Queenstown your pilot will descend into the Rees or Dart river valleys flying overhead Glenorchy. The flight then follows lake Wakatipu back to Queenstown.
Departure times; on demand. (routes can be weather dependant and may vary at the pilots discretion)
